Welcome to Wine Memoirs
Welcome to my Wine Memoirs blog. This is the first of what I hope are many entries to this online journal. I’ve been a wine enthusiast for a few years now and a writer for many more. The two passions met when I started writing for Main Ingredient and other magazines.
What I hope to accomplish here is a little storytelling. My plan is to weave personalities, places, and products (a slightly different spin on the 3 Ps) into these journal entries. Hopefully, you’ll find them entertaining as well as enlightening. Maybe the posts will lead you to new adventures, such as a culinary tourism trip or, possibly, an expedition to the local grocery to hunt for an intriguing cabernet. Let’s see where this takes us.
Please be patient with me. I’m more novice than expert (and definitely not a card-carrying snob) when it comes to wines, so I’ll be learning along the way as well. Every time I visit a winery (and sometimes even the local Costco wholesale market), I discover something new. Sometimes that’s a pleasantly palatable (or not) pinot, sometimes it’s an interesting individual or couple with a story to tell. Other times it may be a humor-laced misadventure. You just never know what’s around the next corner. But then, serendipity is the spice of life, now isn’t it? (OK, wine too.)
Before what was intended to be a short welcome message morphs into a long-winded, meandering ramble, I’ll bow out. It’s too early for a glass of chardonnay, though I’m sure that many would disagree, so it’s off to other bold endeavors. Time to re-heat my lukewarm coffee and get in the shower.
Adieu.
Kirk Richardson
