Wine is Not to be Confused with Gatorade®

Posted June 2nd, 2007 by Kirk

It’s pushing 90°F today, and I feel compelled to warn my four loyal subcribers to drink plenty of liquid. No, not wine like a dear friend of mine enthusiastically imbibed a few weeks ago. “Wilst” working on the grounds outside his estate, he reports, his wife brought him a nice chilly glass of Pinot Gris.

Apparently, the white wine was so refreshing that he allegedly called for seconds, then thirds, eventually consuming two entire bottles. Unfortunately, the combination of normally healthy exertion, a few rare rays of Oregon sunshine, and abundant grape did not mix all that well. Alas, my friend became very sick on his now not-quite-so-neatly manicured acreage.

The moral of this cautionary tale: Save the Pinot (or other favorite wine) until the work is finished. In my opinion, it’s best served on a warm summer’s eve balanced with a nice barbecued filet or salmon and enjoyed while surveying the fruits of a productive day’s labor comfortably seated in a cushy patio chair.
