As a journalist, you’re always hunting for interesting topics to write about. If it interests you, then there is a reasonably good chance it will appeal to at least a segment of your readers.

It’s amazing to me that fermented grape juice generates so much interest, but I’m caught up in it too. There is some kind of mystique about wine that beckons. It seems that if you pull enough corks, the genie eventually comes out of the bottle, and you’re enchanted.

Well, I’m under wine’s spell and am busy keeping this blog up-to-date as well as dreaming up future topics. One that is coming soon is a visit to Tahoe Ridge, the only winery in the state of Nevada using locally grown grapes. The proprietors have teamed with the University of Minnesota and Cornell, among others, to come up with hardy vines that can withstand the Silver State’s sometimes harsh weather. Tahoe Ridge is just a short drive south of Reno, so it might be worth making the excursion on your next gaming weekend; maybe it’ll end up saving you a few bucks in the end.
